Adding Authorship
Today it was really great to introduce some second years to the project in person and for them to respond to some of the recordings I have collected so far. We talked about the difference in creating imagery from sound rather than from visual stimuli. Is it easier of harder? How aware are we of filtering what we see and hear in order to produce an image? The dilemma between what is aesthetically pleasing and the authenticity of one's own authorship.
I wanted the students to listen carefully, not only to what is being said but what isn't being said. The gaps between each sentence or the possibility of a pause for thought. Some phrases are suggestive. What do we fill the gap with? Our own interpretations of meaning or maybe more questions.
